Digital Dental Impressions

Itero. In order for the orthodontist to properly evaluate your bite, taking an impression of your teeth is needed.  In the past, a tray filled with a goopy, putty-like material was used so that a three-dimensional model of the teeth and bite could be created.

In our office, we use the most up to date technology,  so that in most cases, putty impressions are being replaced with virtual computer models of the teeth— made using  handheld “wands” which have a  digital camera connected to a computer.

Here's how it works

We can record multiple images of your tooth's surface with our small  scanning wand. The computer connected to the scanning wand  will combine these images into a single accurate computer-generated 3D image of your teeth and bite.

Itero Scanning Teeth. This remarkable tool uses blue wavelength light so that we can precisely capture the unique nooks and crannies of your tooth's surface to make a highly accurate 3D digital model.  It enables us to instantaneously examine your teeth and  bite.

Once we are pleased with our images we can review your bite, and can create a simulation of your final orthodontic correction!

How this technology benefits you

  • Finally, you can say goodbye to the goop, gagging, discomfort, and anxiety you've experienced in the past with traditional dental impression materials!
  • It gives us the immediate ability to assess your bite in 3-D.
  • It takes less time than traditional dental impressions.
